Today was a recovery day spent on the couch. The after effects of a Crossfit party, right? I saw my Crossfit gym back in Naples, Florida was kicking some ass at the "Summer Crush" Crossfit competition in Miami, props to all of you who went and competed. On another note, I think I am starting to experience what some people call "home sickness." If that is what I am experiencing how do I cure it? For those of you who have moved from state to state and had to start from scratch, did you experience a feeling like this?
Cheers,
WipFit
Whatzzz up? Hope you feel better. 5 O'clock Fred, checking in. Time is probably the only cure.
ReplyDeleteI am beginning to think your right Fred. Good to have you on board the WipFit blog man. I hope things are going good back in Florida! Keep me posted on what I am missing down there.
ReplyDeleteFred is right...time is the only cure. Law School John here...I've moved countries and states and time is the only thing that cures it, that and keeping busy
ReplyDeleteHey Alec!! Finally got to catch up on your blog. Summer Crush was great and we missed you, you would have loved it! You would have been so proud of the team, they left it all on the field and did some pretty amazing stuff there. Impressed us all and made us proud! Edna, Erin and I never made it off the wait list but we sure did some "elite" spectating I must say!!! We have Iron Curtain in October and Infidel Throwdown in November coming though so I have my work cut out for me!! My MU's are coming along, it's unbelievably straining on the shoulders so I only practice them maybe once a week or so. I want to get my kip even bigger somehow to make that transition part easier on myself. I still need lots more work on my DU's before comp time so I'm going to be really strict with practicing those now, Sarina gave me some good tips for that at Summer Crush....she did awesome also by the way, and Debbie too!
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures and your updates, so nice to hear what you are up to out there. The box looks awesome, wish I could just swing by in my car and check it out, but the pics are good and maybe some day you'll get some more vid for us too.
I wanted to add to the bits of advice you have already received on that "homesick" feeling of being far away in a different place. As you know I've done my share of travel and moving. I wanted to share that in my experience you can not only get over that "homesick" feeling, but you can actually get to a point of falling in love with where you are and the experiences you are having and who you are having them with. You just embarked on an incredible adventure, you are up in Vancouver a million miles away, new faces, new sights, new food, new everything. Embrace every day and every opportunity. I truly believe that we were created to be in relationship, or community with people. Surround yourself with great people Alec. Every day try to open yourself up a little more and allow yourself to be a bit more vulnerable in your relationships and friendships there and I guarantee that will translate into others being more transparent with you, thus you will bond and build wonderful friendships with, perfect strangers and also the people you are around daily. Don't wait to be invited or for people to always take the risk with you, you be the one to be bold and put yourself out there. People are drawn to your enthusiasm for fitness, nutrition, and life so don't hide it from people. Think of this time as more of an epic adventure than anything else. Try to connect with people and make it meaningful. You have an incredible amount to offer as a friend and trainer. We all wish you were still here but since you're not.....make the absolute most of it as the time will fly by and before you know it you'll be packing your stuff to either come back or go somewhere else. Keep posting, even if NO ONE reads it, keep posting, you will want it for yourself. I journaled in emails my entire year in Thailand and at the end she printed it out and it's basically a book. So glad she kept them all. You are missed by all of us. I hope this helps at least a little.
Thanks for all the insight guy's and gal's (yes I am talking about your essay Kristin).
ReplyDeleteI know your right Kristin and I will definitely get some videos and more pictures once my camera gets here sometime this week!!
I appreciate you all taking the time to write back to me and share your knowledge and experiences with me and also the other followers if they are reading this.
Love you guys!
P.S. What place did we get at the "Summer Crush?"
